It all started with new Crown Tower troops, and here we are with the first new King Tower troop in the entire history of Clash Royale: All hail Goblin Queen as the new ruler of the King Tower, I mean, Queen Tower!
Since the beginning of 2024, Clash Royale has been progressing quite fast, Supercell has already announced tons of new Card Evolutions, along with two new Crown Tower troops: Cannoneer and Dagger Duchess. And now, it’s time to shake things up at the King Tower.
Since all we have at the moment is only an animated story trailer from the Goblin Queen, it’s quite difficult to say how big of an update this could be. The range, fire rate, damage, and hitpoints of Goblin Queen are all major factors to consider before we can judge it.
That being said, with all the changes that Goblin Queen could cause in Clash Royale, it is unlikely to have the same effect as Crown Towers. After all, a King Tower usually comes into play once a Crown Tower is destroyed unless one player makes a mistake and accidentally activates the opposing King Tower.
Knowing that often the fate of the matches is decided by losing a single Crown Tower on either side, the addition of Goblin Queen will mostly affect the matches where both players are putting more effort into offense than defense.
With the current King Tower troop having powerful attacks at a slower fire rate, Goblin Queen should probably deliver the opposite to shake things up. This also falls in line with the DNA of Goblins themselves, as they are usually fast-moving and fast-damaging units, except for the Goblin Giant.
At least, that was how things played out for Crown Towers. The Princess herself had a high fire rate as the original Crown Tower troop. So, Supercell started with something at the other end of the rope by adding Cannoneer, which had a much higher damage, but also a much lower fire rate. Then, we moved to Dagger Duchess with a dynamic fire rate, which has now turned into the most popular option among tower troops, though the upcoming nerf could change the meta a little bit.
This is, of course, a good step forward from Supercell to touch on some aspects of Clash Royale that have been one-dimensional for a long time. Adding a variety of Crown Tower troops on its own gave a lot of depth to the game from a tactical standpoint, allowing players to get creative with the decks.
The same goes for Card Evolutions, which is slowly encompassing all available cards. The fact that you have to think about how to use your Evolution Spot before entering a match makes the experience more enjoyable for players who put a lot of time and effort into crafting a winning deck.
Goblin Queen will launch on June 17 along with the third week of the current season. So, we can probably expect next week’s event to be completely based on the new King Tower ruler!
