Clash Royale is making significant changes to how Pass Royale used to work up until now. Starting next season, Supercell will remove Gold Pass as a tier, and simplify Pass Royale to only Free Pass and Diamond Pass.
Free Pass will work the same way as now, but its reward pool will receive a new update to deliver a wider variety of items to players who don’t spend on the monthly Diamon Pass plan.
So, moving forward, Free Pass will offer Wild Evolution Shard, Lucky Drops, and Animated Banners next to Golden Chests and Season Tokens. This is a significant improvement, as it adds one more new way for free players to earn Evolution Shards other than grinding for Season Tokens and Level-ups.
On the other hand, Diamond Pass subscribers also get a similar refresh in the rewards. The Diamond Pass will now offer exclusive Tower Skins and Emojis, higher-tier chests like Royal Wild Chest and Legendary King’s Chest.
Players will see these changes applied to the game on October 7, when the new season of Clash Royale launches. Also, it’s worth noting that the Gold Pass subscription tier will be unavailable to purchase from September 25, and will be completely removed from the upcoming Pass version.
The price for Diamon Pass will not change when this update takes effect. At the moment, the Gold Pass costs $6 and the Diamond Pass comes at $12. With the removal of the Gold Pass, players will be forced to buy the Diamon Pass, or they will have to forget about the premium rewards.
Gold Pass used to offer players 5 Legendary Cards, 7,500 Season Tokens, one Tower Skin, 10 Plentiful Gold crates, and many other rewards for a lower price. Now, of course, not all of these valuable rewards will be added to the free track of the Pass Royale.
So, while it benefits the players who never spend a single penny on Clash Royale, it will hit hard players who used to get Gold Pass every season, as they either have to double their budget or grind more.
