Card Evolution is a relatively new feature in Clash Royale that allows cards to evolve and deploy in an enhanced form after being used in the battle for specific times.
In order to unlock a Card Evolution, you need to collect six Evolution Shards of the corresponding card, or you should spend Wild Evolution Shards, which are shards that can be applied to any available Evolution, much similar to Wild Cards.
There are a bunch of ways that you can earn Evolution Shards in Clash Royale, and here we will go over each one of these methods.
Get Seasonal Tokens
Every season in Clash Royale comes with its own seasonal shop that offers a wide variety of rewards in exchange for Seasonal Tokens, including one Wild Evolution Shard and three random Evolution Shards.
Every day, you can earn up to 1,000 Seasonal Tokens by playing the weekly event. If you spend Gems, you can extend the daily limit up to 2,000 tokens. Aside from that, a new challenge appears in Clash Royale every weekend, which offers more Seasonal Tokens for each win, regardless of the daily limit. Moreover, you can also earn some Seasonal Tokens from the Pass Royale.
The price for the Wild Evolution Shard is 6,000 Seasonal Tokens, while each random Evolution Shard’s cost increases in three phases as you purchase: 5,000, 10,000, and 15,000 Seasonal Tokens. So, if you want to get all Evolution Shards offered during a season, you have to accumulate at least 36,000 Seasonal Tokens.
Get Daily Lucky Drops
Clash Royale offers three fixed challenges every day, which are quite easy to complete. Here is the list of daily challenges:
- Play a battle
- Earn 10 Crowns from battles
- Win 3 battles
After nailing all the challenges, you will earn a Lucky Drop.
Similar to cards, Lucky Drop also has different rarities, but if you get the Legendary rarity, the drop may award you with 6 Evolutions Shards. which instantly unlocks a Card Evolution. The chance of getting a Legendary rarity, however, is only 1.5%.
Level Up In King’s Journey
If you look at the top left corner of the screen in Clash Royale, there is a number that represents your overall in-game level. Every new level offers a reward. While most rewards are Level-Up Chests, some higher levels offer an Evolution Shard as a reward.
The best way to level up in King’s Journey is to upgrade your cards. Every time that you upgrade a card, it gives you some blue tokens, which add to the King’s Journey progress. You can also earn minimal progress by completing daily challenges and donating cards to clan-mates.
The Level-Up chests also have a chance to drop Evolution Shards.
Buy Diamond Pass Royale
Every time Supercell introduces a new Card Evolution, it also includes all Evolution Shards for the corresponding card in the Diamond version of Pass Royale. Unlike the previous methods, this one will require you to spend real cash.
For now, there is no way to buy new Wild Evolution Shards or older Evolutions via real-life money. So, if you have missed a Card Evolution, you should either hope for the upcoming seasons to include its shards in the seasonal shop or just accumulate Wild Evolution Shards and unlock the older Card Evolution.
It’s worth noting that none of the chests in Clash Royale will reward you with an Evolution Shard except for the Level-Up chests. Also, you cannot trade Evolution Shards or Card Evolutions at the moment.
