In a recent IAE-specific video, Star Citizen developer Ben Curtis answered some questions about upcoming Star Citizen ships, including the ones that will receive new variants and some that will get new updates.
Probably the biggest news is the upcoming Carrack rework that will add a Blast Shield as well as retractable cargo doors on the side. This update is expected to arrive in Alpha 4.0.
Other than that, Ben Curtis was also the bearer of good news for RSI Constellation owners. When he was asked about a Mark 5 upgrade for the Constellation series, Curtis said there are no plans for revamping, but the ships will indeed receive an update.
Unfortunately, we didn’t receive any information on what this update could be, but there are surely many things that can change about this lovely ship series in Star Citizen.
Moreover, Curtis also teased the F7C Superhornet Mk 2 as the next new variant of the ship to be released in the PU. There is no official ETA for it at the moment, but it wouldn’t be surprising to get this ship with Alpha 4.0 or earlier in 2025.
Next up, Curtis answered about the upcoming modules for Aegis Retaliator. According to the CIG developer, the ship will receive Drop Seat and Habitation modules in the future. Currently, Cargo and Torpedo modules are available for Retaliator.
Last but not least, Curtis also revealed that the ship design team will shift its focus onto Misc and Drake once they are done with the capital and sub-capital ships of RSI. Currently, the next big ship to release into the PU after Polaris is Perseus, which is a sub-capital ship almost the same size as Hammerhead, but it comes with much bigger guns.
Curtis also vaguely answered the upcoming modules for Drake Caterpillar. He mentioned the expectations for mini-ship carriers or medical bay modules but didn’t really confirm any of those.
There will be more of these IAE Show episodes in the coming days, and we will probably get more teases on what’s next for Star Citizen in 2025.
