DayZ Developer Trademarks Something New About The Game

by Cole Phelps

According to the European Union Intellect Property Office (EUIPO), Bohemia Interactive has trademarked a new term, DayZ Frostline, just a few days earlier, and this could be the next big thing about the beloved survival game. (Special thanks to 3RNO for sharing it on X)

Now, it is yet to be known officially what Frostline is, but most fans believe that this could be a true winter map for DayZ after Namalsk, bringing in even more deadly weather conditions to the game, and causing some extra challenges. At least, that’s what we can make up with the name Frostline!

That being said, when we searched about the game’s latest map, Livonia, we did not find any trademarks. If Frostline is a new map DLC, then there should have been trademarks for previous DLCs like Livonia, unless this is all about the next DayZ iteration.

Back in June 2023 when Microsoft’s documentation leaked in a court against FTC, it was revealed that DayZ 2 is already in the works at Bohemia Interactive, though the leak was never confirmed by the developers officially.

Unfortunately, the trademarking page does not reveal any useful information on what this new Frostline title could be. This is the reason why it leaves us just assuming and dreaming about what’s possible.

Recently, Bohemia Interactive announced that when DayZ update 1.25 releases on live servers, it will grant free access to the Livonia DLC to all players. Hence, the DLC will be removed from the game’s store pages as a purchasable item.

Now, this might be a hint at the fact that a new DLC will be replaced soon which brings new content. Or, this could be an encouragement from Bohemia Interactive to invite more players to experience the first version of DayZ while waiting for the next game in the series to drop.

Aside from all the assumptions above, you should also take the possibility of a mobile version of DayZ or something along those lines into account as well. After all, mobile is a massively profitable platform nowadays, and every developer loves to have a share of it.

We will update this post if any new information comes out, but it is unlikely to have any official information from the developer soon after a trademark goes viral.

Aside from this new DayZ Frostline project, Bohemia Interactive is also working on Arma 4, the next mainline entry in the series which will use the same engine as Arma Reforger. It is yet to be known which one of these two projects is closer to release, but it does seem like Bohemia Interactive has some satisfying surprises up its sleeves.
