Forget About Destiny 3, Bungie Teases Destiny 2 Expansion “Frontiers” For 2025

Destiny 3 rumors are not new. We have had them even before The Beyond Light releases, but a recent teased from Bungie shuts down all those rumors for good, as the developer now promises an upcoming expansion for Destiny 2 in 2025: Frontiers!

Bungie just shared a video titled “The Journey Ahead”, detailing all the upcoming Episodes to Destiny 2 during Year 10, but the video ended with a massive cliff hangar, the announcement of a new DLC for Destiny 2 that is codenamed Frontiers.

Unfortunately, Bungie did not share anything further about this upcoming expansion, other than that it will be the opening of Year 11 content for Destiny 2.

With The Final Shape ending the long story of conflict between Light and Darkness, it is anyone’s guess that what is going to be the main team for the next expansion, and whether it would start another long saga in the series.

Before we get to play Frontiers though, there are still three Episodes on the way, replacing the old Season-based system of Destiny 2. The first season, Echoes, is already live and will take players to Nessus, where the Vex are up to something strange after Light and Darkness collapsed into each other.

The second episode, Revenant, will focus on the Fallen, a homeless race that will be discovered more as players are introduced to a new Potion Crafting system in the game, allowing them to enhance their artifacts.

Finally, the third episode, Heresy, is a Hive-heavy storyline where players will make their way back to the Dreadnought, the giant Hive ship that was once a destination in Destiny’s The Taken King expansion.

While Bungie confirms that each Episode will be singular story on its own, but they will also shape the future of Destiny 2’s universe, and that’s probably what leads us to Frontiers, the next expansion for Destiny 2.

Each of the episodes will come with their own armor sets, weapons, activities, and gameplay systems. This is, of course, quite similar to how seasons used to work, but with three episodes per year, Bungie will probably have more time to work on the next expansion, while staying tight-lipped about it.

If anything, this tease at least confirmed that Destiny 2 is still alive, even though the Light and Darkness saga is over. Now, all eyes are on Bungie for the next expansion, Frontiers, and their next shooter, Marathon.
