The first-ever open beta for UFL kicks off on June 7, allowing all PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S fans to try out the game and provide feedback to developers before the official launch.
Originally announced back in Gamescom 2021, UFL is an online free-to-play football (soccer) simulation that was first aimed to be released in 2022, but multiple delays pushed it back until 2024. UFL is going to be a new rival to EA Sports FC and PES series, but the official release date is yet to be revealed.
While there have been some closed-beta sessions for UFL previously, this is the first time that the development is running an Open Beta, which makes it a critical point in the development process before release. You can already pre-load the data for the open beta to gain access on Friday. And be aware that the open beta will end on June 9.
For now, the game will only target PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, skipping the last consoles as well as PC. However, Strikerz Inc. clarified earlier that they will move on to other platforms once the console versions are available.
Although being a free-to-play experience is a huge advantage for UFL compared to EA FC 25, the game will not license leagues, tournaments, or clubs at the level that EA Sports does. That being said, all players will be authentic and the game does have some licensed clubs such as AS Monaco, Bayer Leverkusen, Besiktas, Borussia Monchengladbach, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sporting, and West Ham United.
UFL also features a number of famous footballers as ambassadors, including Cristiano Ronaldo who invested $40 million in this project back in 2023.
It’s yet to be seen whether the open beta will feature crossplay between consoles, but Strikerz Inc. has confirmed that crossplay is a part of their plans for the official release.
