Elden Ring Finally Lets You Summon Torrent In The Finale

by Cole Phelps

Elden Ring players are all prepared to explore the realm of shadows in the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, but before we reach there, FromSoftware rolled out a new patch for the base game today, adding a bunch of new minimal features and a sneaky improvement to the final boss fight.

Yes, you can now summon Torrent when fighting with the Elden Beast, the final boss fight in the original plot of Elden Ring. The fact that FromSoftware finally allowed players to get some help from Torrent against Elden Beast over two years after the game’s release is quite interesting.

If you have already reached the final battle in Elden Ring, you sure know how painful it is to reach the Elden Beast, especially if you build circles around melee attacks rather than ranged ones. Beating Elden Beast used to require excellent stamina management, as you would always need enough stamina to roll, attack, and run toward the boss when it is time to deal that critical damage.

“Literally could fix the entire fight,” reads a comment in reply to this Reddit post, indicating how helpful Torrent could be in letting you enjoy this fight instead of getting frustrated.

If you have been looking for one new reason to start a New Game Plus in Elden Ring, this is surely a big one to attempt to defeat the Elden Beast with Torrent. Of course, it is not a big challenge as the fight will now be easier, but you can still enjoy the addition of Torrent to this notorious fight.

This new change was never mentioned in the pre-update notes but the extended patch notes for update 1.12 did reveal it today. If you don’t believe it though, check out the Reddit post above by Alex_mp1, who shared a screenshot of their character riding on Torrent while in the fight against Elden Beast.

Now, if you have already beaten Elden Beast before this patch, you earn the bragging rights to boast your skills, but this is a quality-of-life improvement for this battle, as Elden Beast has a pretty large health pool, which makes this fight last quite long, let alone you couldn’t ride Torrent either.

It remains unknown what other secret changes we could expect from this patch in Elden Ring, but the community will probably discover them all pretty soon if there are any.

Update 1.12 includes numerous bug fixes as well as loads of new balancing changes for the PvP experience. You can check out the full patch notes via this link.

Shadow of the Erdtree is supposed to be released on June 21. The expansion will add a whole new region to the game, and while it does not require you to defeat the Elden Beast, you must slay both Starscourge Radahn and Mohg Lord of Blood to earn the ticket to the realm of shadows.

Based on the stats from PlayStation and Steam achievements, less than half of Elden Ring players have defeated Mohg Lord of Blood so far, which means they will have a hard time before they can even begin the new adventure in the DLC.
