First Update For Hunt: Showdown 1896 Fixes Some Crashes But Doesn’t Help With Frame Drops

by Cole Phelps

The re-release of Hunt: Showdown 1896 was not as glorious as it was expected to be. Not only were players outraged over the new UI, but also the game was packed with numerous bugs and crashes, some of which have now been fixed with the latest update.

According to the patch notes for update 2.0.0.6, players will no longer face a crash when opening their map in the game on various occasions. This was quite an annoying bug since the re-release, as checking out the map for boss locations and extraction points is a crucial part of the gameplay. I did lose four of my hunters over this bug.

It wasn’t the only crash that has been fixed though. Crytek has also a crash that used to occur when multiple items that emit light are thrown into an area. This was a problem with multiple light sources that could force a crash for players.

Moreover, players on consoles can now adjust their HDR settings without the fear of having their game crash. While we are here, Crytek also knows that the console gets overheated on some occasions while playing the game, but this patch will not fix it yet.

Check out the full patch notes here for yourself:

  • Fixed a bug that caused the game to freeze or crash when opening the map during banishment in Bounty Hunt.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash when triggering multiple light sources (such as alert trips or fuses).
  • Fixed a bug that caused a crash when adjusting any HDR setting on consoles.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the game to get stuck on an indefinite loading screen after resuming from a suspended state during a multiplayer session.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the “Recently Played With” list from populating after completing a Bounty Hunt session.
  • Fixed a bug that caused scopes to appear blurred.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the mission summary to be missing after completing Soul Survivor or Bounty Hunt.
  • Fixed a bug where the “Filter On” and “Sell” buttons shared the same shortcut on the gear screen.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed regions with a ping above the limit to still be selected and applied.
  • Fixed a bug where the region was not displayed in the mission stats.

The update is already live across all platforms and the servers are also back from maintenance. The PC version of the update only weighs around 80 MB.

When it comes to the frame drops, Crytek has mentioned it among the known issues for the game, letting players know that they are aware of sudden stutters occurring on multiple occasions. However, this patch will not fix it.
