Goblin Drill Evolution Adds Up To The Infamous Synergy With Poison

by Cole Phelps

Just a few days after we got our first look at the Goblin Giant Evolution in Clash Royale, now a new clip has been shared from the Goblin Drill Evolution, which is also arriving with Season 61 on July 1.

Unlike the Goblin Giant Evolution which didn’t seem overpowered, the Goblin Drill Evolution will potentially become a nightmare for players in the upcoming season, especially when you imagine how powerful it could be when combined with Poison.

While it has a Cycle of 2, the Evolution still seems strong enough to require a slight nerf after launch. When the Evolution is active, Goblin Drill’s HP will be divided into three parts. As soon as the HP for each one of the parts fully depletes, Goblin Drill spawns three Goblins, goes down underground, and then reappears a little bit further from its original location, doing what it should do.

The three-part HP allows Goblin Drill to deploy three times next to the Crown Tower. Each deployment will deal damage to the tower, while also spawning Goblins with a cooldown. And when the drill is destroyed, it will spawn 3 more Goblins. So, it is guaranteed that Goblin Drill Evolution will spawn at least 9 Goblins.

The main problem is you cannot deplete the entire HP of Goblin Drill with one hit. You may consider hitting it with a Rocket or a Fireball to cut the redeployments, but as soon as the HP hits the first divider, it disappears instantly from the map. This is the part that makes Goblin Drill seem a bit overpowered, and that’s why I think its infamous synergy with Poison could be quite strong.

Season 61 still seems to revolve around the Goblins as both Evolutions will target the Goblin cards. The new season will also bring a number of balancing changes which apparently target all the new Goblin cards added with the previous update, though the final version of the changes has not been revealed yet.

Clash Royale will have more content about Goblins until the end of this year with a new Goblin Champion card in the works.
