Goblin Giant Evolution Hits Clash Royale Next And It Doesn’t Seem Overpowered

by Cole Phelps

Goblin Giant Evolution is officially the next Evolution to be released in Clash Royale as the gameplay footage of it is already circulating on social media platforms.

Although the Goblin-themed season will come to an end soon, Supercell is not done with this race yet, as you can expect a Goblin Champion to be added to the roster later this year.

The new Goblin Giant Evolution will not touch the basic stats of the card, but it will add a new ability to the card, which allows it to spawn a melee Goblin every 1.5 seconds once the giant’s hitpoints hit 50%. The overall mechanic is quite similar to that of Goblin Demolisher, where he rushes towards the closest structure to explode himself when he loses half of his HP.

While we haven’t played with the Goblin Evolution yet, it doesn’t seem overpowered at the moment. At least, not as powerful as Firecracker, Battle Ram, or Skeletons Evolutions at their launch.

The fact that the ability only works after Goblin Giant loses half of its hitpoints already makes it easier to fight with spawned Goblins. A single Valkyrie, for example, can easily get rid of the Goblin Giant with some help from the Tower Troop. She can also kill all newly spawned Goblins instantly. Even having a Cycle of 1 doesn’t seem to make Goblin Giant Evolution effective enough, as it is a 6-Elixir card after all.

Since Goblins are spam units, it is easy to get rid of them with a simple spell like The Log or a low-cost card like Barbarian Barrel. So, at least we don’t expect Goblin Giant to get nerfed after being launched in an overpowered state, which is a good move by Supercell, as players who want to purchase can now see the real and probably final form of the card rather than a temporarily strong version.

This seems like a wise move by Supercell, especially in the current situation where some of the popular content creators are against the company’s income-focused actions in Clash Royale. Recently, one of the well-known Clash Royale players and YouTubers, B-Rad, criticized Supercell for not paying attention to the community in the way it should.

Clash Royale Season 61 will launch on July 1st along with the Goblin Giant Evolution. Further down the line in Season 61, Supercell will also add the Goblin Drill Evolution, something we already reported on earlier.

A balancing update will also be delivered in Season 61. Based on the work-in-progress changes, it seems like Supercell aims to nerf all new Goblin cards, including Goblin Demolisher, Goblin Curse, and Goblin Machine. Supercell already nerfed Goblin Machine once, but another nerf is in the pipeline again.
