Marvel Rivals Launches Closed Beta Later In July, Register Now

by Cole Phelps

Earlier this year, Marvel Rivals was announced as a new multiplayer game from the beloved comic universe, bringing some of the most popular heroes and villains to a battle arena in an Overwatch-style gameplay loop but in a third-person perspective.

After completing a Closed Alpha phase back in May 2024, now Marvel Rivals will launch a Closed Beta session on July 23 for nearly two weeks on PC and consoles.

While console players need to visit this link to jot their names down for the closed beta, PC players will just need to wait until July 20, when the Steam page for Marvel Rivals will be updated with a “Request Access” button, allowing every Steam player to sign up for the closed beta without a complicated process.

The closed beta will be live on North American, European, and Asian servers, delivering four maps and three game modes. All characters that have been announced so far will be playable during the closed beta.

More details about the events and tournaments will be revealed next month, but the developer confirmed that they will run a campaign during the closed beta to invite more players to the testing session, much similar to the Extra Invite Codes campaign that went live in May for the closed alpha.

All Marvel Rivals Playable Characters

The developers have confirmed over 20 playable characters from the Marvel universe so far, including both superheroes and supervillains. You can check out the full list of confirmed characters below:

  • Hela
  • Spider-Man
  • Doctor Strange
  • Rocket Raccoon
  • Black Panther
  • Storm
  • Mantis
  • Scarlet Witch
  • Luna Snow

  • Star-Lord
  • Magneto
  • Punisher
  • Adam Warlock
  • Venom
  • Peni Parker
  • Ironman

Marvel Rivals doesn’t have a release date yet, but after the closed beta concludes we can perhaps expect a full release plan from the developers. Of course, it depends on how many closed beta sessions have been planned before launch.

As a joint production from Marvel and NetEase Games, Marvel Rivals will launch as a free-to-play experience with a strict focus on team-based PvP matches. More details about the competitive side of the game is yet to be shared.
