- Well-known insider, Tom Henderson, has also confirmed this leak.
- If it turns out to be true, Modern Warfare 3 will be the first ever Call of Duty game on Game Pass.
- This could open up the path for more Call of Duty games to be added to the service before Black Ops 6.
Update: Xbox officially confirmed on X (former Twitter) that Modern Warfare 3 will be added to Game Pass on July 24. The original follows from here.
We already know that Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is going to be the first game in the series to ever launch directly on Game Pass, but it may not be the first Call of Duty game on the service, after all.
According to a tweet from the Xbox insider eXtas1s on X/Twitter, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will be available on Game Pass for PC and Console on July 24, the same day that the Season 5 update will be released for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone.
Prior to this news, we had heard rumors from here and there about the probable addition of a few Call of Duty games to Game Pass before Black Ops 6, but it now sounds like Activision wants to celebrate Season 5 with a massive surprise.
The rumor is now backed by credible insider Tom Henderson, who confirmed in a recent article that he was able to corroborate the leak with some other sources to verify it.
eXtas1s has also claimed that Valorant will quit its Beta state on consoles to release globally on July 26.
In case this rumor turns out to be true, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 will be the first game in the entire series to ever be added to Game Pass. Although Modern Warfare 3 is not as popular as Modern Warfare 2 or Black Ops Cold War, it is the latest edition in the series and still owns the most populated Multiplayer servers.
If Modern Warfare 3 is added to Game Pass on July 24, we could probably expect more games from the series to be available via Microsoft’s subscription service before Black Ops 6.
Recently, Microsoft announced some changes in the tiers and pricing of its Game Pass service. The Xbox owner will charge you $20 per month to let you play day-one releases on Xbox Game Pass, though PC players can get that privilege for $12 per month by sacrificing EA Play access.
This price increase seems to be Microsoft’s approach to keep Call of Duty a profitable franchise despite its addition to Game Pass on PC and Consoles. And who knows, maybe this will help Microsoft to sell more hardware around the globe in 2024 and beyond.
