Once Human: Where To Get Tin Ore

by Cole Phelps

TLDR:

  • One of the best low-level spots to farm Tin Ore is the eastern beach on the map.
  • You can also find Tin Ore at the southern and western borders of the Iron River at the north of the starting region.
  • Tin Ore is one of the primary requirements to craft Bronze Ingot.
  • Using Bronze Ingot you can craft Bronze Pickaxe and Tier 2 weapons.

Crafting is an important part of Once Human just as it is for most survival games. While leveling up your character and unlocking more Memetic perks will allow you to gain access to new crafting methods, it is also quite important to explore the world to find the required materials.

Tin Ore is one of the materials that you will need in Once Human soon after you reach Level 10 and start to expand your base. With Tin Ore, you can create Bronze Ingot, which opens up access to a whole lot of new items through Bronze Pickaxe.

Where To Get Tin Ore

Hopefully, you don’t need to go too far away from the starting area to find Tin Ore. Two major locations offer plenty of Tin Ore to mine.

The first and closest source of Tin Ore is the beach on the map’s east side. All highlighted areas with a yellow background on the image above include Tin Ore. Logically, the beach is probably the last place to look for Tin Ore, but things in Once Human seem to work a bit differently.

The second best place to mine Tin Ore is the southern banks of the Iron River. This river is located at the north of the starting region. If you move beyond the river to the north, you will die instantly as it is a high-level area. However, on the southern border of the river, you can find plenty of Tin Ore as shown in the image above.

Before you head to the locations though, keep in mind that mining Tin Ore requires a Copper Pickaxe. You can’t mine Tin Ore using your starter pickaxe. So, make sure to build a furnace, craft some Copper Ingot, and use the Supply Workbench to make a Copper Pickaxe.

What Can You Build With Tin Ore

Tin Ore on its own cannot build many things for you, but when you combine it with some other materials at the Furnace you can craft Bronze Ingot, which is the next level after Copper Ingot.

Using Bronze, you can craft Bronze Axe which increases the amount of materials you can gather from the same existing sources. For example, a Crude Pickaxe can only collect 10 Logs from a tree with each hit, but the amount for a Copper Pickaxe is 13, and for the Bronze Pickaxe is 16. Similar boosts are also applied when mining Ores.

Other than Bronze Pickaxe, you will also need Bronze Ingot to craft most Tier 2 weapons. So, if you venture forth to collect Tin Ore, you’d better mine plenty of it before coming back to the base. Each Bronze Ingot requires 5 Tin Ore, 3 Copper Ore, and 1 Charcoal.
