Rainbow Six Siege Y9S3 Operator Is A Disabled Man Who Controls Two Bot Soldiers On The Map

by Cole Phelps

TLDR:

  • The new operator is a defender and will spawn two human-like bots on the map.
  • Only one bot can be active at any given time. The inactive bot will hide behind a shield.
  • If the active bot dies, the player also dies and loses access to the other bot.
  • The bots seem to have access to a brand-new weapon.

While the official announcement for Rainbow Six Siege Operation Twin Shells is still a few days away, but some gameplay footage has already been leaked that reveals the idea behind the new Greek operator.

The name of the new operator is unknown, but he is a disabled person who will not engage in battles personally. He will not even be present on the map. Instead, this Greek operator will have two human-like bots on the map. These bots act like real operators having access to both primary and secondary weapons as well as secondary gadgets.

Their primary gadget, however, is switching between the bots. The player can only control one bot at a time, and the bot that is not active will hide behind a self-deployed shield that protects it from direct shots. It can only get killed from behind the shield.

Now, the player loses when the active bot dies. So, if the opponents kill the inactive bot, the player can still continue living, while they lose the switching ability, but when the active bot dies, the player cannot switch to the other bot, which means gameover!

The primary weapon for the bots also seems to be something brand-new. It has up to 32 bullets per magazine, which means it is either an SMG or AR.

This like is more than likely legit, as the main menu screen on the footage mentions Y9S3. Also, the name of the season, Twin Shells, perfectly fits with controlling two bots.

This is all the information we have so far thanks to the leakers, and it already seems like a wild idea from the developers for a new operator in Rainbow Six Siege, but things can go wilder if some of the assumptions turn out to be true.

We haven’t seen the full loadout for the new operator yet, but if the game actually allows players to set different load-outs for each bot, this could make this Greek operator easily overpowered. Imagine you equip one bot with an SMG and all the sights needed for long-range and mid-range fights while assigning the other one with shotguns.

In the leaked video, both bots use the identical loadout, which probably puts the idea above aside. But there is still more we can find out about the new operator in the official announcement. Like, the speed and health levels for the bots, or if they would ever have an activation range. Like, can you put one bot on the third floor and the other one in the basement and still switch between them? This will be a key factor to consider.

Operation Twin Shells will be officially revealed on August 25 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST / 7 PM CEST.
