In a recent update to the company’s Terms of Service, Riot Games revealed that it will now reserve the right to ban toxic players in one game from all of the company’s games. So, if you behave badly in Valorant for example, your account in League of Legends will also be affected by bans.
“Lastly, acting really badly in one of our games can get you banned from accessing any of our games,” reads the new statement in Riot Games’ terms of service. So, while not every ban will be treated this way, those who really step outside the red borders of toxicity should expect such a harsh penalty.
Previously, Riot Games warned toxic Valorant players that it would not show mercy to them. Anna Donlan, head of the Valorant team, explained earlier this year that they really don’t want toxic players to play Valorant anymore.
Now, Riot Games takes one more step towards eliminating toxicity from its games, especially Valorant, which has been plagued by toxic players and griefers since its official launch.
It wasn’t the only change in the company’s terms of service though. The popular developer behind Valorant and League of Legends also revealed that hardware bans will now be considered for players who violate the terms of service multiple times.
Also, the company’s user rules will now apply to streamers and content creators as well. So, even if someone is not playing a Riot Games product, but rather streaming its content, they could still face bans if they do any criminal activity during the stream or video.
These new changes in terms of service will go into effect on December 1, 2024, less than a month from now. So, for now, toxic players will not be banned from other Riot Games titles, though this is a last warning for them to re-evaluate their in-game behaviors and maybe stop being mean towards other players.
