The second season of Solo Leveling will air officially in January 2025, almost one year after the release of the first season. Titled Arise from the Shadow, the new season will continue to focus on Jinwoo’s adventure as the only Monarch that fights for humanity, rather than against it.
Solo Leveling Season 2 delivers 13 episodes in total. Compared to the first season, there is one more episode in the new season. The events of the anime adaptation have not even covered half of the Webtoon chapters yet, but the upcoming season is expected to be more action-packed.
With Jinwoo obtaining the Shadow Monarch title in the final episode of Season 1, the protagonist will now face even deadlier monsters in dungeons, and probably some other Monarchs that are literally a threat to humanity.
Looking back at the Season 2 trailer that was released back in July 2024, the new season of Solo Leveling will send Jinwoo to a new dungeon with an arctic setting. This is actually in line with the beginning of the Red Gate arc, where Jinwoo meets some new faces and battles it out with even deadlier enemies.
Assuming Season 2 will have the same pace as Season 1, it is unlikely to witness Jinwoo entering Jeju Island in the new season, as there is still Return To Demon Castle arc after Red Gate. So, in order to see the anime series covering Jeju Island, it should probably be renewed for a third season.
Solo Leveling Season 2 will be available on Crunchyroll. The exact release date for the first episode of the new season is yet to be revealed.
