TLDR:
- Splitgate 2 will launch with three different factions: Aeros, Meridian, and Sabrask.
- Aeros is packed with movement skills, allowing players to run faster and make aiming harder for enemies.
- Meridian comes with intel-based skills and healing devices to help your teammates survive longer.
- Sabrask is a tanky faction that delivers shields and throwable grenades.
Splitgate 2 will launch in 2025 as a direct sequel to the creative, competitive first-person shooter from 1047 Games, and despite keeping the core gameplay elements from the predecessor, Splitgate 2 will have its own innovations.
The first gameplay trailer from Splitgate 2 provides a deeper look into factions, the biggest new feature in the game that will improve the overall experience by letting players master the role they want.
There will be three factions available in Splitgate 2: Aeros, Meridian, and Sabrask. These factions can almost be tossed into the overall categories of fraggers, healers, and tanks, but there are some important differences here.
Starting with Aeros, this is the fast-paced faction in the game, and most of its abilities just help players traverse faster on the map and make it harder for opponents to shoot at them steadily.
Aeros can open up multiple portals and inject some special chemicals into themselves for faster movement speed for a limited time. This faction is mostly suitable for skillful players with great aiming.
Second on the list, we have Meridian. This faction features a combination of intel and healing abilities. Playing as a Meridian, you will have the ability to see the opponent’s health bar. Also, you can use a special vision skill that lets you see enemies through walls for brief moments. Finally, this faction also has a healing grenade that can recharge the player’s health.
Last but not least, there is Sabrask. This is the tanky faction of Splitgate 2 that comes with the least movement skills but has abilities that help it hold the position.
The biggest skill for Sabrask is a one-way shield. After you deploy it, you can shoot from behind the shield, but the upcoming shots from enemies will be blocked.
This faction also comes with access to throwable deadly grenades, which can earn some satisfying kills, even more enjoyable than headshots.
Splitgate 2 doesn’t have a proper release date yet, but it targets 2025. The game will be showcased during Gamescom 2024, which means we can expect more sneak peek into the new gameplay elements, maps, and weapons.
