Alpha 3.24.2 introduces two new cave archetypes into Star Citizen: Acidic and Rock caves. Prior to this, there used to be only sand caves in Star Citizen, but now there are new underground locations to explore.
While mostly using the same map layout as sand caves, the new Acidic and Rock caves come with distinct lighting and design. Acidic caves have pools of acidic water inside, but hopefully touching them does not damage players.
On the other hand, Rock caves feature a specific fluorescent plant that lights up slightly. Exploring Rock caves is also quite rewarding, as players will be able to find more than a few loot chests inside. Some of these chests include gemstones.

Acidic Cave Locations
Acidic caves can only be found on the planet of Hurston and its moon, Arial. For now, no other planet or moon seems to feature Acidic caves. In the case of rewards, we have not been able to find any chests or minerals inside Acidic caves so far.
