Star Citizen developers revealed that a new Alpha 4.0 build will soon go live for Evocati testing, and if the monitoring results satisfy the dev team, it will be launched directly to Wave 1 backers.
Alpha 4.0 has been in the Evocati testing for a few weeks now, but it seems like the patch has improved enough performance-wise to let in more players. CIG asked for as many Evocati players as possible to join the servers tonight and let them test the performance with a fully loaded shard with 380 players.
The good news is anybody who is an Imperator subscriber in Star Citizen will receive Wave 1 access. So, even if you are not a subscriber, you can become a member for one month and get Wave 1 access right away to enjoy Pyro earlier than its release on Live servers.
Since the new star system has a lot of Star Citizen players excited, it is expected that we see one of the most crowded Wave 1 releases in the history of Star Citizen in the coming days. This will probably also cause a surge in the number of Imperator subscribers.
While Alpha 4.0 lost a lot of its features like Engineering gameplay, Fire Extinguishers, a new reputation system, and some other smaller features, Pyro and Server Meshing are both big enough to keep players excited for what’s coming. It’s also worth noting that the new content in Pyro like Asteroid Bases and Contested Zones will be available with the 4.0 patch.
Currently, CIG aims to fully release Alpha 4.0 sometime in December 2024. Since the development will probably leave for the holiday after the patch’s release, it’s unlikely to get any hotfixes for the patch any time earlier than January 2025. That’s why reporting bugs in the PTU channel is more important than ever at the moment.
