Star Citizen Dev Says Blockade Runner Is Still Slated For 3.23.X

by Cole Phelps

With Personal Hangars and Cargo Missions arriving in Alpha 3.23.2, most of the promised content for this patch cycle will be ticked as “released”, but the Blockade Runner event still remains “tentative”, though a developer recently confirmed that the team still considers this event as a 3.23.X content.

In response to a Spectrum post assuming that the Blockade Runner event may have been postponed to Alpha 4.0, JakeAcappella, a CIG developer, reassured fans that the global event is still slated for the Alpha 3.23 patch cycle. “It just hadn’t had its final review at the time of writing,” said the developer. “Currently still slated for the 3.23 patch cycle, nothing’s changed on that front.”

This is indeed an expected decision by Cloud Imperium Games, especially knowing that the final phase of the Overdrive Initiative has not started yet.

The final stage of the XenoThreat-themed event is currently being tested in the PTU build of Alpha 3.23.1a, and honestly, it is too much to expect two global events to launch in a short period.

So, while Blockade Runner still remains a dynamic event for the current patch cycle, we might actually see it released in the latter half of the patch’s lifetime rather than any time soon.

CIG has already revealed some of the new features coming with Alpha 3.23.2, and it does not include Blockade Runner. So, this probably means the new dynamic event might be pushed back to Alpha 3.23.3 or any possible further addendum updates in the current patch cycle.

Blockade Runner is a brand new event that was first revealed back in September 2023. The mission combines the elements of XenoThreat and the Nine-Tails Lockdown event, where a major space station gets under siege by Nine-Tails members, requiring players to run through the blockade, take some cargo from the station, and deliver it to a Lagrange Point.

The event is a combination of cargo hauling and combat. Players must purchase a specific cargo type from the blocked space station and sell it at a dedicated Lagrange Point, but this will force them to face heavily armed Nine Tails ships both around the space station and Lagrange Point. You may even get interdicted during your Quantum Travel by Nine-Tails’ snare bombs.
