Star Citizen Brings F8C Lightning Back On Sale, But You Can’t Buy It Without The Golden Ticket

by Cole Phelps

It is no secret that F8C Lightning is currently the best heavy fighter in Star Citizen, but it is also locked behind a paywall as the developer has no intention to allow players to buy it in-game before Squadron 42 releases, which is why the ship has turned into one of the biggest pay-to-win icons in Star Citizen.

Now, Cloud Imperium Games has decided to bring F8C Lightning back on sale once again, but unfortunately, it only allows players who had earned The Golden Ticket during the F8C event to purchase it now. This is, to some extent, hilarious.

I know there are probably people who had participated in the F8C event back then and earned the Golden Ticket but didn’t have the funds to buy it. However, this ship is hotly anticipated by players who don’t own The Golden Ticket either.

Many players have joined Star Citizen since the F8C event was over, and they never had the chance to claim this overpowered ship. So, when you bring it back for sale, isn’t best to let everyone buy it, or at least define a new way to earn the Golden Ticket?

This is a questionable decision by CIG, which also caused some mild disagreements on Spectrum. The fact that Golden Tickets were tied to a single event that has not been repeated in a long time sounds a little bit unfair, especially for a ship that has already broken the balance in PvP fights in the verse.

That being said, it is not the end of the world for you. There are still a few ways to get the Golden Ticket. First, you can ask other players who own a Golden Ticket to gift it to you for free if they don’t want to use it. In case you can’t find anyone generous enough to send their Golden Ticket to you, then you will need to buy the ticket from them, which will cost you some dollars.

At the end of the day, if you are so eager to own this $300 heavy fighter, you may not mind spending around $60 to get the Golden Ticket too. Otherwise, you will seemingly need to wait for Squadron 42 to release, and then buy it, play it, and complete it to finally receive F8C Lightning as your reward in Star Citizen. So, it’s a matter of being patient and controlling your hype!

The F8C Lightning is not the only vehicle on sale though. In celebration of Jumptown’s release, CIG is offering the ships below for a limited time:
