Star Citizen Buyback Token Release Dates For 2025

by Cole Phelps

Every year, Cloud Imperium Games distributes Buyback Tokens among Star Citizen players at four different times, and the release dates for 2025’s distributions are already out, with the first wave of Buyback Tokens released on January 6, 2025.

Buyback Token is an opportunity that allows a player to re-purchase a melted vehicle using store credits, no matter if it is available for sale on the official Pledge Store page or not.

Buyback Token Distribution Dates In 2025

  • Q1: January 6, 2025
  • Q2: April 7, 2025
  • Q3: July 7, 2025
  • Q4: October 6, 2025

Keep in mind that the Buyback Token for each quarter cannot be saved to be used later. If the player does not use the Buyback Token for a certain quarter, it will be burnt when the next quarter of the year begins.

That’s why players are encouraged to use their Buyback Tokens if they really want to, as the tokens cannot be stacked.

Buyback Token is a perfect system for players to buy ships at a lower price earlier before and then melt them for store credits. This way, the ship will always remain in the player’s buyback list at the same price that it was purchased originally.

So, when the ship is released or its intended gameplay system has been added, the player can use the token to buy the melted ship again.

Aside from being useful in general, the Buyback system is quite beneficial to owners of ships like Drake Herald, Anvil Terrapin, or Crusader MSR, as they are missing intended gameplay systems. So, the owners can melt those ships and get more useful options without losing the right to buy them back later.

The Buyback Token for each quarter is distributed in the first week of the quarter to allow the maximum time for the player to use it throughout the season.
