RSI Polaris, one of the most anticipated ships in Star Citizen is now flight-ready in Alpha 3.24.3, and the pledge price for the ship climbs from $750 all the way up to $975.
Today is the RSI day in IAE 2954, and RSI Polaris is now available for purchase. This time around, it is not stock-limited anymore, which means everyone can secure their own capital ship, but at a higher price compared to concept sale.
Those who are willing to spend cash rather than store credits will be able to get the Polaris Warbond Edition for $850, which offers $125 of savings compared to the normal offer. That being said, the Warbond offer will only be available for 24 hours and may return on the final day of IAE 2954.
The price increase for Polaris had been revealed back in ILW 2954 when CIG warned players that it would be their last chance to secure the RSI capital ship before a price hike.
This is not the first time that a ship experiences a price increase after launch and it won’t be the last. CIG always offers concept ships at a lower price to encourage players to invest in the pre-orders. However, such big price increases usually happen with giant ships like Hull-C, Polaris, Carrack, or upcoming capital ships.
On paper, Polaris is currently the most powerful ship when it comes to combat capabilities and the new price represents it. With Hammerhead priced around $700, it was expected that Polaris would go near $1,000 as it delivers much more features and capabilities compared to Hammerhead.
The in-game price for Polaris is yet to be revealed as the ship will be added to in-game stores in 2025. Looking at the current in-game prices for ships, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Polaris become the first Star Citizen ship priced above 100 million aUEC.
Currently, Polaris offers the biggest mobile hangar in Star Citizen, and this will not be beaten by any other RSI ship in the future unless capital ships from other manufacturers do it.
