Star Citizen Night Vision Weapon Optics Already Being Tested

by Cole Phelps

During today’s Star Citizen Live session, one of the developers confirmed that Night Vision is already in the works for the game, and the team is currently testing new Night Vision optics for weapons.

While Star Citizen does feature a headlight, which allows you to find your way in the darkness, it is quite ineffective for spotting a long distance, which is why the need for night vision goggles is being felt among the community.

Hopefully, one of the developers had a pretty heart-warming update to share about the Night Vision feature in Star Citizen, as he revealed that he was testing a new night vision optic for weapons just yesterday.

This is huge news for many FPS lovers of Star Citizen, as it will make it a lot better to snipe from a far distance in the game. The developer did mention that you should not expect the night vision optics to arrive in Alpha 3.23, but it is actually a part of the plan for future updates.

While these optics will help a lot with FPS combat, they will not be comfortable enough to find your path in the middle of nowhere. The developer revealed that implementing a full night vision goggle experience for the player visor is quite complicated, and it is something that players should expect far down the road.

It is worth noting that the developers also clarified that the upcoming night vision optics will not be similar to what you see in most games with green lighting. While we didn’t get enough info on how it will exactly look, but the developers promised it will solve the problem that many players are now facing in the dark areas.

Aside from the night vision implementation, the developers talked about a variety of other community concerns, both about the upcoming Alpha 3.23 patch and about the future of Star Citizen.

Explaining the current delay in the pop-up time of the new UI system, the developers revealed that they are still exploring the possible causes of the problem, and it seems to be connected to the massive load on the servers, but they cannot fully confirm the source of the issue yet.

Moreover, the developers once more doubled down on Master Modes, saying that the current version comes after over 20 different iterations that were tested internally. So, players will have to get used to it and wait for more improvements coming in the future.
