In the latest “This Week in Star Citizen” post, Cloud Imperium Games confirmed that there is a bug in the fifth phase of the Overdrive Initiative mission, and to make sure players have enough time to get this phase done, the completion deadline has been extended.
If you have managed to complete all 5 phases of Overdrive Initiative by now, you are a lucky citizen, as a considerable amount of players can’t complete the mission due to various bugs. Some players have reported that they couldn’t even receive the Phase 5 quest on MobiGlass, while some others claim that there is a chance of the supply boxes disappearing if you don’t get them to the Admin Office soon enough.
All these problems contributed to making it quite difficult for the Star Citizen players to complete the final phase of the weekly quest before the arrival of Alpha 3.23 on live servers. However, Cloud Imperium Games is now working on fixes that will be delivered by the Alpha 3.23 update, meaning you will have some time after the release of the upcoming patch to complete Phase 5.
This also means that the Overdrive Initiative finale, which is an all-out warfare against XenoThreat, will be delayed slightly to let more players enjoy the final chaotic battlefield. Based on the official page for the quest, you can expect the battle against XenoThreat to come to an end in May 2024, which is when you will receive your exclusive rewards for aiding the CDF in neutralizing a big threat and keeping Stanton safe.
Overdrive Initiative includes a total of 4 missions, each with multiple phases. The first five phases are called Intel Raid, where you are tasked to infiltrate into five XenoThreat-controlled bunkers and steal critical data. Then you get access to Priority Targets to decipher those data, and finally, XenoThreat Incursion becomes available. The fourth mission arrives soon after the release of Alpha 3.23 on live servers.
You will face a wide variety of objectives in each phase, including both on-foot FPS engagements and space battles using your fighter ships. One of the phases in Incursion will also send you to retake Security Post Kareah, which is the most difficult on-foot part of the Overdrive Initiative so far.
If you are finding it difficult to complete the mission on your own, you can always ask for aid in the in-game chat, or just request players to share the mission with you to get your name checked for the mission’s completion even if you don’t actually participate in any part of it.
