One of the Star Citizen Alpha 3.23 EPTU players recently claimed that the salvage RMC price per unit has been increased by almost 13%, while the CM price has been reduced by over 350%.
That’s right! Structural Salvage is getting a huge nerf in Alpha 3.23 EPTU, and it is yet to be seen whether this change will make it to the live version of the update or not.
Currently in Alpha 3.22.1, Construction Materials (CM) extracted by Structural Salvage are worth nearly 6,000 aUEC per unit, but this is going to be nerfed all the way down to 1,522 aUEC per unit, which is over three times less than the previous price.
On the other hand, CIG increased the price for Recycled Material Composites (RMC) extracted by hull scraping from 13,650 aUEC per unit to 15,400 aUEC.
This is indeed an anticipated balancing change that makes hull scraping more valuable again, though the process is still time-consuming.
When Structural Salvage was introduced in Alpha 3.22, it pushed players to just fracture and disintegrate every ship derelict as it was way faster than hull scraping while still offering a decent value. This way, players have been able to earn more money in a shorter period.
However, if the changes above are confirmed for the live version of Alpha 3.23, you can expect Salvage fans to return to hull scraping again and complete the full process defined for the job rather than just focusing on the fracturing and disintegrating.
Alpha 3.23 is still in the EPTU stage as Wave 2 testers were recently invited to provide feedback on the upcoming features. It is worth noting that Personal Hangars and Freight Elevators were delayed to Alpha 3.23.X, as CIG found it quite complex to bring these highly anticipated features with the upcoming patch.
