One of the annoying bugs in Star Citizen that has been around since Master Modes were delivered is the constant resetting of Speed Limiter, whenever the player changes the flight mode.
Hopefully, the problem will be addressed in Alpha 4.0, as the CIG developer Yogi Klatt recently commented on Spectrum, revealing that the team is considering adding two different Speed Limiters for each flight mode, so it won’t be reset after switching between SCM and NAV.
While it may not sound like a big deal, the bug indeed wears players down in the long run, especially when it is required to act quickly when fleeing from battle. With different values, the speed limit that the player inputs for each flight mode will be saved separately, and prevent them from resetting.
Alpha 4.0 was released for Wave 1 testers last weekend, but the servers are currently down as CIG prepares a new build to go out later this week for further testing. So far, the speed limit issue has not been fixed in the 4.0.
With Alpha 3.24.3 launching on Live servers in a few days, the developers will fully shift their focus on the 4.0 patch, and we should probably expect more builds coming out and more Waves to be allowed to join the server.
During the recent Wave 1 test, CIG ran the shards with 380 players, which didn’t seem optimal at full capacity with consecutive server errors. The elevators and hangar doors also seemed quite annoying during the Wave 1 test, but it will surely improve as developers have better data to analyze the performance and apply additional fixes.
Alpha 4.0 is still planned for a live release in December 2024. Some key features like Engineering gameplay were delayed to later updates, leaving only server meshing and Pyro for the coming patch, both of which are quite important and anticipated.
