The First Descendant: How To Level Up Weapons

by Cole Phelps

For those who have already played Destiny 2, The First Descendant will feel quite similar in the gameplay mechanics, especially when it comes to upgrading weapons and characters and modifying them.

As you make progress in The First Descendant, you may come across valuable weapons with a higher rarity like Ultimate, but you surely wouldn’t want to put such a weapon aside only because its level does not upgrade automatically with your character level. That’s when Weapon Level Transmission comes into play.

How To Level Up Weapons

You need to find a Workbench first to level up your weapon with a higher rarity. All the spawn points – those round green markers – in available regions of the game feature a Workbench, as shown in the image above.

Now, interact with Workbench and click on the Weapon Level Transmission. Keep in mind that Workbench is not available earlier in the game, as you need to follow the main questline until you unlock access to it.

Here, you should choose two weapons. The first weapon is the one you want to level up, whereas the second weapon is the one that will burn and its level will be applied to the first weapon.

Completing the transmission process requires a Phase Exchanger. Based on the rarity of the weapon you want to level up, the rarity of the Phase Exchanger required will be different. To level up an Ultimate weapon, for example, you must have a Precision Phase Exchanger, which is a Rare item.

How To Get Phase Exchanger

Phase Exchanger is a craftable item. You can visit Anais in Albion to request research for both Phase Exchanger and Precision Phase Exchanger. The crafting material for each item is different, the list below shows what you need for each one and where you can find it:

  • Phase Exchanger Requirement
    • Gold (2,500x)
    • Superalloy (50x)
      • Can be earned by dismantling Normal and Rare weapons
