The First Descendant Preload And Release Date & Time

by Cole Phelps

The Unreal Engine 5 powered looter shooter The First Descendant is almost here, and like you, we are also eager to play it at day one of launch.

After passing through multiple closed and open beta sessions, the final version of this free-to-play experience is ready to be released on PC and consoles on July 2.

Despite being built upon Unreal Engine 5, The First Descendant will not ditch last-gen consoles. The game will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Preload And Release Date And Time

The preload for The First Descendant will be available within 48 hours before the game’s release on each platform. Below, you can check out the preload and release start date and time:

  • Preload: June 30 at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET / 8 AM BST / 9 AM CEST / 5 PM AEST / 7 PM NZST
  • Global Release: July 2 at 12 AM PT / 3 AM ET / 8 AM BST / 9 AM CEST / 5 PM AEST / 7 PM NZST

All platforms will receive access to the game at the same time. The First Descendant will require 50 GB of free space on your device for installation. The actual download size could be a bit smaller, though.

Minimum PC System Requirements

In case you aim to play the game on a PC, you might need to have a look at the minimum specs before preloading the data.

  • OS: Windows 10 x64 20H2
  • Processor: Intel i5-3570 / AMD FX-8350
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 1050Ti or AMD Radeon RX 570 Video Memory 4GB
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 50 GB available space

While it is not a game that runs smoothly on rock-bottom PCs, The First Descendant is still playable on medium-level systems with a not-so-high-tech graphics card or CPU.

Coming from the South Korean developer Nexon, The First Descendant is a 4-player co-op experience set in a distant future, where players can pick from multiple characters, customize their look and combat style, and embark on missions with different difficulty levels to take down die-hard bosses.

While playing The First Descendant in co-op offers the ultimate experience, you can tackle missions on your own as well. The developers plan to expand the game’s content over time and add more customization options.

The combat system in The First Descendant allows a wide variety of factors. Each build can carry up to three weapons and four secondary accessories. You will also have access to special items to enhance your combat capabilities.

The final version of the game launches with 8 fields in total, 5 of which are completely new and were not present in any of the previous beta tests.

Hopefully, The First Descendant will launch with cross-play enabled, which will allow the entire community to play together with no barriers, shortening the matchmaking times.

Thus far, Nexon has not revealed a roadmap for The First Descendant, which is why we have no clue when we can expect the first major content drop after launch. It is possible that the developers will prioritize fixing launch bugs first, and once everything is smooth and stable, we could probably hear about what’s next.
