Star Citizen will introduce Specializations, but they are not assigned classes to limit players in what they can do. Each specialization comes with its dedicated set of clothing or armor. Specialized armor or clothing cannot be purchased, that can only be looted or discovered in the verse.
Specialization, however, cannot be achieved with the current systems, and that’s where StarWear comes into play. It’s a new character customization system by CIG designed to allow players to combine clothing with armor. So, the players will be able to wear a jacket over an undersuit and still have a backpack on!
A rebalance of all armor types will be applied to Star Citizen, making different armor types suitable for different situations. So, the protection values will be more wider and detailed just Small, Medium, and Heavy. Some armor will be great for EVA, while others will serve the player better in the atmosphere.
The clothing will be tiered. The civilian clothing will not allow wearing armor, and players will have limited options to carry weapons. The civilian armor will be suitable for prohibited locations where fully armored players with weapons cannot enter.
Then we have the Pilot suit, which comes with a special helmet that monitors all the MFD elements in the visor so that the player doesn’t need to check the actual MFD monitors at all times.
The Pilot suit will also get a Racer variant that comes with extraordinary resistance against G-Force but is less capable in EVA situations. Designed to work best for ground and air races where the player moves at the highest speed.
Heavy combat armor will now be known as Tank, which comes with excellent protection against bullets and explosions to help the player succeed in FPS missions.
For those who favor stealth, there will be Hunter armor that comes with a helmet capable of scanning and locating targets. To take that stealth experience to the next level, there is the Sniper armor that comes with lighter weight and a system to keep its wearer away from radar scans.
Moving away from the suits, it’s time to put those armor types to work and face Valakkar, a monster-worm in Star Citizen that will turn into the most brutal hostile creature against citizens.
Players will need to team up in groups to take down this giant worm, using ships, ground vehicles, weapons, and explosives. But once dead, Valakkar will give great loot to the citizens, including giant Pearls and the teeth.
Valakkar will lurk under the ground, but once it takes damage, it will submerge to eat the one who annoyed it. Valakkar will shoot venoms that can kill individuals on the ground and heavily damage ships.
After killing the worm, its Pearl will need a mining tool to be extracted, but the teeth can be picked up with a mid-size tractor beam.
There are three sizes of Valakkars in Star Citizen: Juveniles that are near minerals and have a height of 5 meters. Adults could be angry if you annoy their children. This variant has a height of 15 meters. And finally, Apex is the biggest and most rewarding variant of Valakkar that is as tall as a skyscraper with over 300 meters height.
Valakkar is just one of the monsters designed to be hunted by citizens. More of them have already been planned for Star Citizen 1.0 to deliver a living experience of fauna in the game.
