Kar98k Nerf Finally Delivered With Warzone Season 4 Reloaded

by Cole Phelps

We have had two kinds of Warzone players since Kar98k was released: Those who enjoyed the overpowered state of this marksman rifle while it lasted, and those who decided to give up on Warzone until the developers nerf this crazy strong weapon.

Well, the good news is if you were among that side of the community who raged at Raven Software over Kar98k, you now have what you wanted! Season 4 Reloaded update rolls out today on Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare 3, and it will nerf Kar98k in three different aspects.

First and foremost, the maximum damage range for Kar98k was reduced from 63.5 meters to 55.8 meters. Moreover, Raven slowed down the bullet velocity from 660 m/s to 620 m/s. The hipfire aim-assist was also removed from the controller properties to help it fall in line with the Sniper Rifle class weapons.

These changes will hopefully make Kar98k less of a one-shot-one-kill weapon in the game, but since the damage rate has not changed, it will be quite effective in the new shorter range. So, the rooftops will still remain scary locations to get close to in Warzone.

Aside from Kar98k, Raven Software also delivered more balance changes to the existing weapons and items, nerfing some and buffing the others.

Aside from the balance changes, the new update brings a new shotgun, Reclaimer 8, and a new melee weapon, Sledgehammer, to Warzone. You should also expect massive changes around the Popov Power Station, as a catastrophic explosion has altered the POI significantly, and released a toxic gas around it that will have some deadly effects on players who breathe it.

As a result of this explosion, you will have access to a new Mutation Resurgence mode in Warzone, which replaces the tactical and lethal loot with a bunch of unique mutations that give your character special abilities, such as Dive Bomb, Bioshield, Toxic Stim Cloud, Mutant Vision, and more. This will be Quad Resurgence taking place in the Popov Power Station.
